The finalists from the Orvis 2024 contest produced some terrific images that recorded a number of types and a range of on-the-water experiences.
Although huge summer season does not end up until September 21st, many kids are back in school, and the nights are growing significantly crisp. It’s a time to review how well you invested the longest days of the year.
Back in 2014, I had a difficult summer season, fishing-wise, so to offset it, I set myself an objective: to fish 20 days throughout the month of September. Hence was born the “20 Days in September” Task. I had a lot enjoyable– and enjoyed my time on the water a lot– that I opened the task to everybody and turned it into an image contest that I worked on the Orvis Fly Fishing blog site and social networks. For the next ten years, the contest brought in a growing number of individuals, a number of whom informed us what a blast they had attempting to finish the obstacle.

Prepare Yourself to Fish!
I am delighted to reveal that “20 Days in September” survives on as a collaboration amongst MidCurrent, Orvis, andScientific Anglers Here’s how it works:
-
Make a truthful effort to get on the water 20 times throughout September. Obviously, these do not need to be complete and even half days of fishing. Simply 10 casts suffice to rely on any provided day. So take time whenever you can: before work, at lunch break, after work, or … (cough) throughout work. On weekends, get in a couple of casts around household time, kids’ sports, or lawn work.
You do not need to finish the 20 days to win.
-
This is not almost trout. Any types and type of water are qualified– from bass and pike in lakes, to stripers and bonefish in saltwater, to carp in canals. If you can capture it on a fly, it’s video game. The only restriction is that the fish needs to be captured throughout the month of September 2025.
-
Take images of your fish, the water, your fellow anglers, the flies you’re utilizing, or anything else. To promote excellent fish handling, images might not reveal trout held out of the water. With a lot low, warm water around the nation, we wish to make sure that trout are launched as rapidly as possible, without any additional time out of the water for images.
-
Post your images to Instagram with the hashtag # 20sepdays and tag @midcurrent, @orvisflyfishing, and @scientificanglers ( Just images utilizing the hashtag and all 3 tags will be qualified!)
-
At the end of the month, we’ll go through all the images and choose 10 finalists. Then we’ll let you choose the winners!
