Editor’s Note: Tom runs out town today, so here’s a traditional podcast that initially aired on 1/19/2018. Take pleasure in!
Today’s podcast is my yearly bull session with Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions Rather of us choosing a subject, we chose to ask listeners for concerns. We both field concerns about:
- making a calling noodle out of short-fibered dubbing (together with a lot of other ideas on calling),
- option of expressions for jointed flies,
- mono weed guards on bonefish flies,
- black vs. gold beads on nymphs,
- regularly recreating patterns,
- percentages in cutting hair and fur,
- blending calling to mimic particular bugs,
- the distinctions in between different kinds of natural dubbings, and
- what makes a “excellent” hackle plume.
And naturally we babble a bit. However that’s what fly tiers do when they have an hour to eliminate. We went on so long that there’s no fly box today. Simply one long fly box, and all about connecting.
