Simon shows how to connect a Green McKenzie Wet Fly pattern focused on mimicing the special caddis that hatches in much of the McKenzie and Middle Fork of the Willamette Rivers from late April till late June. This pattern can be reduced and utilized in smaller sized sizes for caddis patterns of all types. Attempt it in brown, cinnamon and orange also.
Late afternoons on the McKenzie these huge “grayish green” caddis emerge and fish enjoy them. Swinging wets and skating dry patterns to mimic the caddis is extremely reliable. You do not require a huge variety of these bugs to be out to see fish transferring to them.
