The 23rd Yearly Herman Lucerne Memorial Backcountry Fishing Champion, provided by Costa, was held this previous September in Islamorada, inviting back a dedicated crowd of over 100 anglers to challenge themselves in this special and venerated occasion. The HLM was established in 1999 by Dr. Lloyd Wruble in honor of the late Herman Lucerne, a leader of fishing in the backcountry of the Everglades. The competition is committed to developing a neighborhood committed to informing and raising awareness of the problems dealt with by the Everglades and Florida Bay, along with raising assistance for the services that will maintain and bring back the angler experience in this valuable environment for the generations to come.
The Herman Lucerne Memorial is a signed up 501 (c)( 3) non-profit company.
