It’s difficult to grumble about the great water conditions, stunning weather condition and strong fishing we have actually been having. However … it looks like we require some rain. There are durations throughout the day when fishing is getting a little harder, even feeling a bit “stagnant” sometimes … We require a modification and it’s coming. Cooler air and water temperature levels imply it’s mayfly time. Ensure you have a collection of Blue Winged Olives and Mahogany Duns this time of year. We are seeing small sailboat mayflies every afternoon. Fish are eating these size # 16-20 mayflies on windless afternoons regardless of all the sun. As soon as we get some overcast and even rain it’s going to get even much better. Have some Parachute Adams, Purple Haze, Purple Roosters, Hi-Vis Parachute Adams, Missing Out On Hyperlinks andRainy’s X Fly Parachutes These do not all need to be small. I like to begin huge, a # 12 or # 14 and see if they will consume. If not connect a smaller sized pattern behind the bigger dry and see if that works. You can even include a soft hackle or little Pheasant tail to the 2 fly rig. All the best out there!
