Every year, I feel it is essential to review 9/11 and the catastrophes included. Despite the fact that we fly anglers frequently pride ourselves on the capability to leave the “genuine” world behind– often for weeks at a time– we’re not detached from truth. We have a stake in everyday life simply as much as anybody else.
Today, in honor and remembrance of that disaster, I discovered this essay by Brian Pitre, released almost ten years back. In it, he information the battles of discovering the 9/11 attacks while in a lodge in Iliamna, Alaska. This was well prior to web or mobile phone protection made its method to the Last Frontier.
It’s a sobering suggestion for everyone that, regardless of our best shots to get in touch with the natural world through fly fishing, we still need to belong to the genuine one.
