Beau Beasley created this excellent story on the land usage concerns pestering the Delaware River in New York City State. While we’re utilized to squabbles over land ownership here in the West, it’s not an issue special to us.
The essence of it is that land owners along the Delaware River in New York City State are claiming centuries-old ownership contracts that, in their view, implies they own out to the middle of the riverbed. This is in spite of years of public usage along among America’s most storied fly fishing waterways.
How this existing battle in between landowners and the recreating public plays out will have big repercussions for a big area of New york city that’s mostly depending on tourist.
You can check out Beasley’s story here, and discover this subject in much higher information. His piece is extremely useful and efficient, and I advise going through it.
