In this video, we start some winter season time nymphing with Jarett Coons in the majetic surroundings of the Canyon near Bishop, California. Jarett is putting our brand-new compact Keiryu (Tenkara design) rod, the Ansel, to the test. At 10.9 feet and with a quick action, the Ansel rod stands out at little water nymphing. The secret to success was getting deep with the appropriately weighted flies. As we discovered, the quick water that day was avoiding us from doing simply that. We recognized this quickly adequate and made the modification to a much heavier nymph that made all differnce. Our main rig was a level, drifting line connected to 5X tippet with a 2 nymph set-up (heavy nymph on bottom, lighter nymph off of a tag).
