The McKenzie held its ideal spring streams today and fishing stayed strong. I invested an arctic Saturday and a lovely overcast Sunday on the river this weekend.
We understood Saturday was going to be damp, however didn’t anticipate it to last long. We were incorrect. Sideways hail, whipping winds, and no location to conceal. It was flat out nasty. In between the rain and hail we did discover some great fish. Nymphing with a double rig of a black stonefly nymph on the bottom and a PCP nymph up from it about 18 inches.
Around 3pm we discovered some fish consuming March Browns on the surface area delighted in some excellent dry fly fishing with Sparkle Dun March Brown patterns.
Sunday was far more enjoyable, light winds, overcast and ideal water conditions. Once again nymphing was a strong method, swinging wets was likewise efficient. The dry fly fishing exceptional with a 2 plus hour duration of fish searching for. Fish were still increasing as we secured at around 5pm. Finest patterns were March Brown Parachutes, Purple Haze, Purple Rooster andPurple Poly Post
This coming week looks damp once again. As quickly as water levels support search for great spring fishing to continue.
