Back in 2002, Oregon’s Fall River was mistakenly harmed by a drop of fire retardant. The chemical spill eliminated all the trout within a four-mile stretch of water, some 22,000 rainbows.
Luckily, that retardant cleared fairly rapidly, according to Scott Linden over at Video Game and Fish Publication, however that’s when the genuine work started of bring back the river.
The Fall is a tributary of the Deschutes, and is home to hard-fighting native rainbows. While Linden states the wild fish are smaller sized now than they remained in the Fall’s prime time, the river is fishing in addition to it ever has.
