A slim, predatory, marine bug discovered in a range of freshwater environments here in New Zealand.
Shallow weed beds along the lake edges, backwaters, ponds and slow-moving weedy areas of rivers all supply the ideal environment for these pests to prosper in.
Damsel fly nymphs are skilled ambush predators and will wait on the substrate or immersed marine plants, as soon as victim is near it enough its extendable jaws will take out getting the unwary bug drawing it into its mouth to be feasted on rapidly.
