Yellowstone National forest revealed on August 28 that the Madison, Gibbon, and Firehole Rivers are resumed to fishing. These rivers were formerly closed in mid-July due to warm water temperature levels and low stream circulations.
The Firehole will stay under hoot-owl constraints, so it can’t be fished from 2 p.m. up until daybreak the following early morning. Considering that the Firehole is highly affected by geothermal functions, Yellowstone personnel will continue to keep an eye on the fishery to guarantee it does not get too warm for ethical fly fishing.
The Madison and Gibbon have no constraints, and are open right away to all anglers.
